My Cat Has Taken a Lover
| 29 Apr 2013 | 01:11
At night when I have gone to sleep
Another world begins For my cat has taken a lover.
He hops up on the window sill Waiting patiently until
The pale enchantress shows her face
Then he begs her come and share his space
At last she rises higher than the trees
Dripping with stars in an icy freeze
Then the silent one with enigmatic face
Woos my soft-pawed cat They fuse together in her pool of light
As with trembling whiskers and slitted eyes
He purrs the night away. Lynne Digby, Goshen
